Advice???

I have been debating whether or not to get a flu shot or not. Personally, I HATE shots...even though, obviously after two kids I can handle it! Also I am sort of the opinion that maybe less is better in terms of medicine. But lately I seem to get sick every 2-3 months with colds or whatever and it takes me forever to get rid of them. It is so frustrating. Currently I am going on 2 weeks with the current cold, although it isn't as bad as when I first caught it.
So I would love some comments or thoughts about flu shots and if they are even worth it!

I've been thinking about it too. I know most doctors will tell you to do it. And even though you might get sick after getting the shot, I've heard the illness is not at severe. So, I keep thinking I should just do it.
They are soooo worth it. I got the flu a couple of years ago and it was pure HELL. I had a fever of 105 for four days. When pete took me to the ER they wanted to hook me up to an IV. I am terrified of needles. So I figure one quick shot to save me from a long one stuck in my arm is worth it. You do not want to mess with the flu.
I'm always a little iffy about it too, but our pediatrician (who I really respect) encourages all of us to get one every year. The CDC recommends one for all kids 6 months-19 years old and their caregivers, which is everybody in our house.
The one time in my life I got a flu shot was in the MTC before I left for Toronto, and that winter I got the worst flu of my life....so I'm kinda anti-flu shot, but then, I've got priors.
everyone i know that has gotten a flu shot, has ended up with the flu. the reason? the shot only protects you against certain strains of the flu (whichever the CDC thinks will be the most common that year.) this, in turn, causes the flu virus to mutate in order to survive and hence, you get stronger and worse bouts of the flu every year. i don't do flu shots--last one i got, i got sick. go figure.
Don't do it! Every time we've gotten it, we've been so sick. Last year, we didn't get the shot and we have had a healthier year than ever before (ha ha, knock on wood, right?). Anyway, that's my suggestion!
